I'll be at Rob Lawrie's talk on Friday 18th March (Skipton Town Hall, 7pm) if anyone would like to come along. Tickets Embsay Post Office, The Swan pub at Carleton and ME Smarter Mortgages, Skipton in town too.
I'm assuming Rob will talk more about Calais and Dunkirk but I see so many similarities.
Waking in the night here to the sound of owls screeching in the trees, seeing to Isla who'd woken with a sore throat and giving her some aconite and belladonna 200c, letting the dog out, seeing my washing up to do and washing to sort. Such simple, beautiful things. So blessed and there, simply by the grace of God and luck of where I was born, go I. Easy to forget. Today I will focus on remembering and appreciate it all.
There is a bowl to wash up in. Clothes that are clean (of course they're never ironed but I have the choice, I have my grandma's iron and an ironing blanket, or a mum 5 minutes away who would happily do it all for me). I have running water for both. I will get up, make rice milk and granola then eat them without a thought of where the next meal will come from. I will make us each a fresh juice from mostly organic ingredients. We will picnic in the woods later. And return home with heating to use should we desire to. With the ability to wash Isla's mud covered ski trousers (sliding down hills is high on her list of priorities at the moment).
This is luxury. Not fast cars, big TVs and designer clothes, far flung holidays. I am living a life filled with blessings every single minute. How easily we can forget.
I'm a Homeopath working in the Skipton (North Yorkshire) area. I am also able to offer food intolerance testing using Kinesiology and advice around diet and lifestyle.
