Evolving from my recently run Find Your Happy course, The Compassion Sessions focus on practical tools for increasing Self Compassion. My personal experience is that it’s easy to be there for everyone else, and still be incredibly unkind/harsh/uncaring at times to oneself.
As with anything I share, group talks, sessions, practical teaching, I feel that I am not here to lecture, but to walk alongside, explore and hold space in the sessions.
As with anything I share, group talks, sessions, practical teaching, I feel that I am not here to lecture, but to walk alongside, explore and hold space in the sessions.
We will be drawing on the work of Self Compassion giant Kirstin Neff and exploring her take on Fierce Self Compassion. We’ll also be using some of Steve Andreas’ thoughts on transforming our negative self talk, with work from Nick Kemp on voice tempo work alongside. More experts will weave their way through the sessions, including Tara Brach, Paul Gilbert and others as we explore theory, research and practical exercises.
My aim is we'll be leaving the sessions each week eager to try out the techniques and having practical tools to implement in our lives, from session one onwards.
How does it run?
It's a 4 week course, running on Zoom, Thursdays in November, 7pm-8.30pm. 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th November.
£100 with a sliding scale available.
I love money. I resisted it for a long time, tried to give so much away for free and now I recognise that I largely eat organic, look after my household and nourish us. Which costs me money. Of course. Pay more if you like, but lightheartedness aside, I feel passionately that this work should be shared, out there in the world, and is valuable to us all, regardless of income status or availability. If you can't pay the full fee, don't be put off, email me and let's figure something out.

Feedback from the August 2022 Compassion Sessions:
"I have had some major shifts in mindset from joining these sessions, in both fierce and kind caring for self and therefore others. A penny dropped on the whole sense of being able to step outside of intensely uncomfortable experiences and take the view that I can feel differently, with giving self a moment of understanding, and seeing what I might need, asking what might help. It's loosened the hold; whilst also honoring the experience, giving agency to that place of strength.
It all worked for me, you're an expert at giving what's needed to each individual and at reading the group and knowing what needs to come next.
Delivery and pace worked for me, and the changing things up, and listening to requests to recap briefly, thank you.
I think it's worth way more.
100% recommend."
"I continue to remind myself to be self-compassionate and, when things are bad, to ask what is the kindest thing I can do for myself right now. And that is very important for me. I also catch myself judging myself more than I did. So, I very much appreciate having taken your course with you.
I enjoyed the way you were alongside us in your demeanour and loved the way you set the tone of the sessions, keeping the tone light enough to have forward momentum but allowing for more sombre reflections. I also liked the way you endeavoured to make sure everyone was comfortable. In each session, the time set aside for introductions and feedback was really important and well managed, so I felt at ease, even when I was experiencing difficulty, talking about myself to you and the other members of the group."
Feedback after 5 weeks:
I wanted to know how useful this is longer term, so asked the question: I was curious to ask if you're notincing more self compassion in your life still? Here's a couple of answers:
"Your sessions really shifted something for me, and although I would say it's definitely a muscle that I need to exercise, I am much more aware of my self talk and try to be much more compassionate with myself when I'm in my head!!!
You are doing fantastic work - it is so needed."
"Definitely my memory of the techniques is fading, hence my desire to rewatch the videos. But, in difficult situations it does come to mind, and help straight away."

Feedback from the Happiness Sessions...
June 2022 - Find Your Happy course
"Such a kind approach, modelling compassion, and making and holding space, Em lead us through a huge array of ideas, theories, tools and techniques. Interwoven with meditations, a chance for discussion and reflection, helpful visual support, and embodying exercises, and practical steps I could try using straight away. I found the sessions accessible and extremely helpful. So much there to go exploring, thank you!
You're a wonderful course holder Em, thank you xxx
PS can you do some more sessions on compassion?"
That's what is here now :)
