Sometimes it's a fine balancing act between being a practitioner and running a business as a sole trader.
I feel that supervision is an essential element of how we work effectively as homeopaths, and I regularly work with my own supervisor.
I enjoy working with both practitioners and students in a supervisory role.
In 2014/15 I studied Supervision with Clare Waters for a year (part time) through her Focussed Mindfulness organisation (now The Walters Method), following on from working with her for a year (p/t) on her Focussed Mindfulness course. After that I stepped into working with supervision with students at the School of Homeopathy and the North West College of Homeopathy. More recently in 2023 I completed Sheila Ryan's Sea Change course, and in 2024 I completed a Diploma in Supervision with Sue Pattison and her training Consultancy.
Being able to step back and take an overview of our practice, of ourselves within that space feels essential to our work as practitioners - both being able to show up for our clients, and for ourselves.

In 2024, I launched Supervision Matters, an online, 3 part course looking at a homeopathic approach to supervision, supporting homeopaths to step into supervision - for students or as peer supervision. This course is adapted from Sheila's Sea Change course, and runs with her blessing. 10% of the course fees received from this course go to women's projects of Sheila's choice. There's more about the course here if that's of interest.
I work with the North West College of Homoeopathy in Manchester to offer 1:1 supervision to their students depending on my availability. In 2024 I'm at capacity in terms of student supervision - there's some space coming up in 2025.
At The School of Homeopathy in Stroud I am their Clinical Supervision Assessor. Due to this role, I'm not able to supervise individual students at The School.
I consider that I work with a person centred approach and we work according to your needs.

Student feedback:
'I have worked with Em throughout my 4th year as a homeopathic student. She has been an inspiring supervisor. I have taken 10 cases with her which has been an enormous undertaking, her willingness and flexibility is the main reason that this has been possible. She has always been extremely constructive in her recommendations. Her gentle, positive guidance has made this possible. I really feel indebted to her as a practitioner as I now feel ready to take my own cases. The confidence she has given me is the main reason this is possible and because of our excellent relationship I intend to continue seeing her for supervision.'
And another from a practicing homeopath:
'Em created a very safe space and I felt held in that space to explore and go deeper. I also liked her use of pertinent questions at exactly the right point to prompt me to explore deeper. At some points it felt as if she was taking the case of my practice as she would ask me to think about how I was experiencing it, what blockages, etc.
This was an extremely helpful process. Em was willing to support me exploring not only work with several clients and where I was in that process but also to look wider at myself within my practice in terms of managing it and where my work was within my life. It was a very supporting, helpful process where the space was created for me to look deeper and ask questions. Em has a lovely manner and is an excellent listener who is also very present in the session and able to ask the right question at exactly the right point to encourage me to go deeper with my self-reflection. It felt a very nurturing, held space.' BN
