Smoothies with not a banana in sight...

I re-learned to love bananas in a boat on the river in Bangkok when I was introduced to apple bananas. Maybe also the concept of a floating market helped me. I was certainly a more romantic image than heading down t'market on a rainy Yorkshire afternoon... Apparently I wolfed down bananas as a weaning chld but that was where our love affair ended. Until being 21 on a boat in the middle of the Far East.  Our love affair was rekindled and now there's not many days go by when I don't have a banana. Or 5. Or maybe a few more... Anyway enough about me! This page is devoted to everyone who doesn't love them, who is sad that most smoothie recipes are based on the humble banana. Here's a few totally gorgeous, really simple recipes with not a banana in sight...

They are intended as meal replacements, not as a drink to go with food as such. If you want them to accompany a meal or as a snack then just downsize the recipe.

Pine-go Smoothie

2 mangoes
1 pineapple

Blend until smooth.

Pure Water(melon)

1 watermelon

Blend until smooth (if not using a high powered blender you may wish to strain to avoid the seeds).

Grape Drink

2lb red grapes

Blend until smooth into a juicy drink.

Summer Heaven

2 mangoes
Punnet of strawberries

Blend until smooth.

Tropical Smoothie

1 pineapple
4 oranges
1 cup of coconut water if desired.

Blend and dream of pure white beaches with sparkling water lapping your toes :)

Fresh Peaches

4 peaches
1 iceberg lettuce

Blend until smooth (you may wish to add a little water) and savour the crisp freshness.

Summer Mango Smoothie

2 mangoes
1 cup cherries

Blend with a little water until super summery smooth.

Peachy Pineapple

3 peaches
1/2 pineapple
1 cup coconut water or filtered water if preferred

Blend until smooth and enjoy!
