I work mainly with what has been termed Focussed Mindfulness techniques that I learnt with Absolute Specialists. They can be described as an eclectic mix of psychotherapeutic techniques, including CBT, mindfulness practices and person centred work. Being person centred it's always tailored to the client's needs.
I’d worked as a homeopath since qualifying in 2007 and had been drawn to the focussed mindfulness work for some time before embarking fully on the courses with Clare Walters from Absolute Specialists, and became accredited in 2014.
Meditation was always something that I 'couldn't' do. Or at least I didn't think I could. It turns out mindfulness meditation is something quite different. And I'm OK at that! Focussed mindfulness takes it one step further I feel, and whilst enabling us to be more present in the current moment we're able to begin to heal wounds from the past. So many of us carry things which we've unconsciously taken on board - it may be a cross word from a parent, a perceived betrayal from a friend, or never really feeling like we fit in quite as everyone else does. Each of these then colours how we look at the world, and working with mindfulness we're able to start to see that's just a story we tell about life, not life itself.
I love working with people and seeing the changes they’re able to make as life opens up around them from simple shifts within them. The focussed mindfulness work can be invaluable in dealing with issues in many areas of life.
