I spent the morning today with inspirational UK vet homeopath Geoff Johnson recounting cases that he's seen and worked with who are going through cancer processes. Geoff, being a vet and an experienced homeopath, often sees cases that have either been given no hope conventionally or been recommended chemotherapy which owners may have decided that is something they're not putting their animal through. Beautiful cases, working with homeopathy and many with more lifespan than would have been predicted conventionally.
So a fabulous morning altogether. I work with people, helping manage the side effects of their treatment at times, or supporting them through that and there are some brilliant books, several of these below I regularly recommend. I put a shout out to a group of people going through, or having gone through cancer treatment, asking what they'd found most helpful. Many of these are from them so are tried and tested by those walking the walk. Where possible, I've included links to the authors own sites so you can find out more about that person, their experiences and their other works. I hope it's helpful to you. One day I'll meet him, I'm fairly sure of that. The man who was the spark to this whole homeopathic journey. If I don't that's OK though - I've expressed my gratitude in email form and on twitter. He's probably used to it - he makes a huge difference to so many, and was humble and polite back to me. So who is he, this great man? A seemingly gentle souled, inquisitive, compassionate homeopathic vet who came to our rescue when we were looking at options such as 'Oh, we may have to remove her eye to stop the disease' kind of jolly things about our horse. We hadn't had her long then either, this beautiful blonde bombshell of a Czechoslovakian creation. Our 16 hand 2 mare, platinum mane and tail, ex driving event horse who you could reduce to jelly by scratching in just the right place. But don't mess with her either - she could put you right in your place. Several of us still have the scars. So it wasn't lightly that we were looking for options. Six weekly steroid injections into her eyelid meant sedation and an element of discomfort for all concerned. My mum was the one who did it, who found him. Chris Day. Homeopathic vet for 40 years. Back then about 20 years. And he suggested a more local homeopathic vet, now retired. Who visited and prescribed a remedy. And that was it. No fanfare, no flash of magic, no ceremony. One tablet a day for 5 days. She took them. My dad, who about now (in real time, not in the tale of 20 years ago) is starting to recognise and acknowledge the potential of homeopathy, walked up a snow laden hill to administer the tablet in pieces of carrot. And it really was it. No more recurrent eye disease. Which we'd been told was incurable. Nothing else to see. No more pain or suffering. And she died, with both eyes years later having had a pretty relaxing life. I know of horses who weren't so lucky, who ended up with their eye removed. But she lived to see the day. Find out more about Chris and the way he works here. Or you can watch him talk about homeopathy here: |
