Thoughts on the world, homeopathy, mindfulness and food...
A collection of blog posts - feel free to respond with your thoughts and comments - I love to have feedback - thank you!
It's been a crazy week! I can't believe it's just 7 days since I woke with a bad dream into an even stranger world. The referendum results were in and it looked likely (I woke at 5am) that we were voting to leave the EU.
I have friends who voted each way, and whichever way people voted, I think, for me, is rapidly becoming irrelevant. What's important now is how we move forwards. What we do next, not how we look back and blame. It seems there are plenty to blame if that is the approach we want to take. I see this too reflected into my work all the time. I work with people who may blame anyone for their complaints, including, in many cases, themselves. The self blame and guilt, I think could be one of the worst, but really that looking backwards with regret, anger, distaste and venom of whatever kind is one thing that really keeps us stuck. 'If only''...', 'if they hadn't...' and all the rest of the reasons mean we can get out of taking real, honest responsibility for ourselves right now. And there I see the similarities, and the invitation, the beautiful, subtle invitation of our times, right here, right now. What has gone has indeed happened. That's not to mean we don't study it and learn, discover and create it differently next time. But it does mean that blame, shaming, anger, vitriol and disgust are useless, except for us to carry forwards illness and dis-ease with us. Right now, here in the UK, and in each of our lives, I believe the invitation is to live as well as we can for ourselves, for those around us, living more in harmony in our communities, regardless of London, Brussels and the rest. Live simply, compassionately, deeply entwined with nature and see how we are part of it all. See how nature has no control, or at least the control is in the constant cycle. Growth, bloom, withering and death. On and on it goes without resistance. Us? We're up in arms about a grey hair, a wrinkle, our skin being slightly less stretchy. See how connected it all is - how the birds need the worms and the worms decompose the leaves, how the new growth comes through and is here, without needing to be flashy, to shout about it, to prove anything. The simple. The power, I feel is in the simple. Simple medicines, simple lives, simple pleasures. I'm following the invitation. With love x
