Thoughts on the world, homeopathy, mindfulness and food...
A collection of blog posts - feel free to respond with your thoughts and comments - I love to have feedback - thank you!
It's been so lovely to share laughter with friends and colleagues around the country... which is one benefit of the online time. I'm as ready to be seeing real people, having hugs and big face licks by now as anyone else (ah I appreciate everyone else might not be into the licks - perhaps I've spent too long around the dogs by now!). The gift of increased nationwide connection has been gorgeous and I think I'll continue in some form like this. I'm also visualising meeting in parks to laugh, maybe inside in the winter months or rainy days, let's see what happens. But for now, I've three sessions this coming week that anyone is welcome to join in with.
The sessions are given freely for several reasons - I'm aware I laugh more with others than by myself so it's lovely for me, I want to share it with others and I'm still in training as a leader of laughter yoga, so am sharing as a friend not a teacher. It really helps me consolidate what I'm learning in the classes to be sharing it so am very appreciative of those joining me. And importantly, I've felt the benefit of laughing through tough times and want to extend that to other people who may benefit too. I love the Pay it Forward concept (if you need a good cathartic film it's worth a watch, starring the 'I see dead people' kid Haley Joel Osment) and the idea is really simple - if you want to work with it, enjoy the session then do something lovely for someone else. If you don't fancy the idea, then just enjoying the session works too :) Laughter Yoga works by using laughter exercises and yoga breathing and can help increase the oxygen in our bodies and brains thus helping us feel more energetic, healthier and even perhaps more productive! Our mind doesn't distinguish between real and voluntary laughter, if done with willingness so the proven health benefits are possible to gain, and possibly even more accessible, from Laughter Yoga sessions than from relying on life in general making us laugh. This week it's half term holidays for me and times are slightly different to the last two weeks. I'm going for Monday at 4pm, Wednesday at 6pm and Friday at 4pm. Children are welcome to join in and have joined in with several of the sessions so far - even suggesting some laughter exercises that we all did together which has been great.
